verizon employees told droid update "coming soon"
Friday, February 12, 2010i was hoping to not stir up the rumor mill again, but this seems actually worth reporting on. android central received a release that went out to verizon wireless employees today telling them to prepare for the android 2.1 update...
to back this up, i talked with another motorola rep this morning who confirmed that the ota update will come from verizon and not motorola as many have suggested. does this really give us any sort of timeline? obviously not but releasing the update to verizon is the final step before we all receive it.
a PR contact of ours at verizon also chimed in with this...
Coming soon is OK. The DROID over-the-air software upgrade is expected to roll out soon.stay tuned!

At least something more official to go with... talk to a buddy that works for Verizon and they did get this today so its not fake. He says they were given no other info
ReplyDeleteit all depends who you talk to,.. I have spoken to Verizon they state it's Motorola,.. I have also spoken with Motorola and they state it's Verizon's call... I'm beginning to think it's all hype

ReplyDeleteThat's good news, I think. I'll remain optimistic and hope to see a notification on my Droid in the next few days. Of course this is probably not a good time to be a Verizon store employee right now...

ReplyDeletei'm sick of the "roll out soon", "check back soon"... i'm all "sooned" out. i have never contemplated how long "soon" was until this madenss hahah :/ i think we have beaten the proverbial horse on what "soon" means... so with that i hope the ota update arrives soon.

I'm addicted to this site also.
I wish we could but we should just hope for 2.1 at this point.
