About

We talk general news, feature apps, review phones, and even teach you how to hack a little. But most importantly, there is no place on the internet that has the reader participation that we do and consider ourselves to be completely community driven. If you were looking for the best place to learn about Android and talk with like-minded folks about all things tech, then Droid Life is for you.
When Droid Life was first created in 2009, it was meant to be nothing more than a simple outlet for Kellen to share the new passion that he had discovered in the Android operating system and a little phone called the Motorola DROID. There were no expectations going in, other than to hopefully find a small group of friends with similar interests that could help each other out as we took an early dive into a yet-to-fully-grow mobile operating system. As the first few months passed, that small group of friends turned into a several-thousand member community. And then the first year went by, and there were hundreds of thousands. It all happened so quickly. But you know what, even as Droid Life has grown into one of the top Android sites on the planet, serving millions of people every month, it still feels like we are that small community from so many years ago.
We consider ourselves to have the greatest Android community in the world, here at Droid Life.
And that’s why there is no website on the planet like DL. We’re one big group of friends that all share similar passions.

Kellen Barranger / Founder

Ahhh yes, website bios. What to say, what to say. Well, as the founder of Droid Life, I’ll just say that if you are reading this, thank you. This great community would not exist without readers, something I keep in mind every single day as our team pumps out post after to post in order to give everyone that visits something to talk about. This is my favorite hangout, and that’s all because of the frequent visitors that make me laugh often, and cry on occasion. This is the best job in the world.
But since this is a bio section, I’m sure you want to know a bit about me. First, I’m a sports addict that grew up in Montana of all places. I now reside in Oregon, where the Portland Trail Blazers take up the majority of my life outside of Droid Life during the winter. Other than attending sporting events, you’ll often find me huddled up at a local pub that’s either known for its burger or whiskey list. Running has also become a new addiction, something the burgers and whiskey want no part of. Oh, I have two awesome Persian cats as well named Batum and Rodgers.
Thanks again for joining us.

Tim Wrobel / Senior Editor

-timotato at droid-life dot com
Tim came to Droid Life first as a casual reader, but quickly found himself dominating our comment strings all while turning into a Droid Life commenting celebrity.  In fact, Mr. Tato became the resident tech support master and it only seemed fitting that he take his skills onto the actual site.  He’s one of the rocks to this great community we have here at DL and says he wouldn’t trade it for anything except maybe a 2GHz Droid with 45 hours of talk time.
You can also find Tim in San Francisco playing guitar in his band Abriel or in the dark corner of a pub sipping back local or foreign brews.

Eric Rees /  Writer

-eric at droid-life dot com
After being frustrated with his numerous Blackberries, Eric moved to the OG Droid and it was love at first touch. The fad turned into a hobby and then into a lifestyle as Eric upgraded to a D2, and now has a D3. He is the type of guy to see someone running a DX with 2.2 on it, go up to them and show them how to pull the OTA down.
Eric is a student of Journalism at Indiana University and hopes to pursue a career in tech or video game journalism. If you have connections to either of those two, be sure to let him know.

Ron Offringa /  Writer

-ronoffringa3 at gmail dot com
Ron has always loved technology. He grew up building computers with his dad before getting a job at a computer consulting company. His love for larger computers quickly turned towards innovations in mobile technology. Before long he was figuring out how to root his original DROID thanks to the team at Droid-Life. After submitting an app review to Kellen, Ron began writing editorials for his favorite Android website. His opinion pieces are designed to encourage discussion and debate over various topics related to Android and the future of Google.
Ron is happily married, has a B.A. in history from California State University, San Bernardino, and leads worship at his local church. You can catch up with him on Twitter at @ronoffringa.
