battery drain fix tutorial - motorola droid

Monday, November 23, 2009

we put together another quick video tutorial to help you with your battery drain issues. basically it comes down to the number of apps your phone is running when you aren't using it. if in standby mode and you have 15 apps running, you can said "bye bye" to your battery.

we use an app called advanced task killer which is free through the market and is a must have...

  1. I had a similar issue with my HTC Hero (EURO model).
What I found was that the phone was constantly firing up the gps receiver to locate itself. Naturally, when the phone was indoors with no clear view of the sky, the receiver would remain on and suck my battery dry. I hadn't realised that out of the box, the phone was set to use gps when it needed to. The obvious 'work around' was simply to disable gps in the settings menu, although this was inconvenient it did work.

I then found a simple on/off toggle switch widget in the apps market and installed it to my home screen. I can now control when I want the phone to use the gps receiver. This has stopped my battery drain issues.

Although the Hero runs Android 1.5 unlike the Droid, it may be worth trying this solution.

    Hope this helps.
