TAT home makes android incredibly sexy
Monday, February 15, 2010

TAT or "the astonishing tribe" just dropped TAThome which might be the coolest thing i have ever seen on an android device. they are calling this a "gesture-powered 3d home screen for android that marries advanced ui technology with astonishing design." and that sounds just about right with an enormous emphasis on astonishing.
they are currently enlisting people to get early access and give feedback, so you may want to cruise over to their site and sign-up.
want to see it in action? here you go...
cheers nick!

This looks great, saw it posted in the comments earlier. Signed up for testing, I would love to have this!
ReplyDeleteMotorola and Verizon can go sit on some mugs, brew 2.1! I want this!
ReplyDeleteI already signed up. Hopefully they select me. :)
What a SEXY home app. 2.1 can suck it, not really but it looks really cool.
ReplyDeletenice wordplay coffee lol
ReplyDelete2. what??? I signed up as well... all I can say is WOW!!!!
ReplyDeleteI wonder how many they will contact that sign up....I've not received any notification.
ReplyDeleteIt would be great to see this come to our Droids. Hopefully Kellex, or someone that frequents Droid-Life, will get in on it so we can see(or at least hear) how well it works.
ReplyDeleteI contacted them and asked when is this coming out and they told me they would start sending out invites ... "soon" (motorola style)
ReplyDeleteI've been in contact with them. Stay tuned :)
ReplyDeleteI definitely want to try this out. I submitted a few different emails just in case it was a random selection!
ReplyDeleteHow would using this affect OTA updates? Would TAT have to modify each one to work with its programming (ala Sense, MOTOBLUR, etc.)?
ReplyDeletePact starts that says anyone who gets picked has to post some videos!
ReplyDeleteAdam: Not completely sure how this runs yet. It could be like Home++ or it could be like a custom ROM. We'll hopefully know soon.
ReplyDeleteMikey: Send me the vids and I'll post em. :)
This looks mad sexy! Reminds me of Sense UI especially with it's Scenes and I've always been jealous of HTC Sense owners.
ReplyDeleteI hope this rolls out soon. Would honestly pay $20 for this.
Thanks kellex!
No problem on provoiding the link, I was so excited when I saw, I had to spread the word, this site is the only one I look at everyday, nothing bt great info.
ReplyDeleteLooks cool,so many things about to roll out I'm pumped up
ReplyDeleteYeah, a lot of things are due to come out "soon"
ReplyDeleteHmmm... how can the coders do this?
ReplyDeleteLets see... according to my coding calculations... if the coders of this beautiful home replacement... depletes, nulls, and relinquishes the native home process completely, while having an IF ELSE coding scheme to call upon the default home launcher IF the home replacement crashes and the IF is false in the sense of the home replacement cannot relaunch itself... ELSE would call up the native home launcher.
After all, the native home launcher is on the system of course... maybe these codes here have found how to call upon it, without it running in the background.
Unfortunately the home "replacement" applications you all use, isn't really a "replacement", more so they are "facades" all the while the kernel of the system is still running the native home launcher.
The paging of the system could have many page faults... with both home launchers running, thus every time you run a stand-off application, like for example Gallery, etc... the system pages its memory basically seeing what will run what... this stuff can get icky.
Like I said, hopefully these coders are brilliant in the sense that they killed the native launcher. But even if they haven't found a code to distinguish the native home launcher, hopefully they have found a more efficient... power and resource efficient compensative.
Coding is fun, trust me. Not! lol no, it really is...
I was just thinking, from the looks of it... this could be more than a home replacer... this may very well be... a whole different Operating System of its on...
Similar to your rooter roosters... how you recognize your Bugless Beast's, Sholes's, Smoked Glass's, etc... but it could take it a step further... without violating the warranty.
You know how a Mac has BootCamp? Maybe the developers found a way to partition the phone's memory, and run a separate OS (TAT Home), or possibly they have found a way to make Android lay in a "dormant" state, while TAT Home becomes the forefront.
I'm not sure, all ocular observation here. All theory I'm spewing here.
I really hope that Motorola and Verizon understand that we want our Droids to go in the direction as seen at TaT Home. I'm extremely excited about what I saw at TaT. If we can get home apps like TaT there will be no reason to go back to root.
ReplyDeleteKellex do you know how much this will cost, incase I missed the pricing
ReplyDeleteWe have no news on pricing. It looks like they want testers for now before it hits the Android Market.
ReplyDeleteAnd for those of you waiting to hear back on becoming a tester, it might be a few days as the TAT team is pretty booked while at the Mobile World Congress.
dude im loving. this I have been following tatt-reditt for 2 yrs waiting for this im pumped to try it
