verizon's droid page says "new" software update?

update 6:27pm: reports coming in from numerous droid users that this has been on the site since december and is likely just referring to the 2.0.1 update. i guess anything gets us excited these days. apologies for the false hope!

after seeing the release that went out to employees of verizon on the 2.1 ota update and now seeing this, you have to figure we should see our motorola droid notification to upgrade at any time.

the link to the software update only takes you to the old 2.0.1 update page, but you can definitely feel the heat.
And if anyone can find out if that has been saying "new" since the 2.0.1 release, I'd love to know. I cached it back to 2/10 and it was still there. has this been there all along?

it's been on there since well before the Moto announcement came out this week... "the new" was there when 2.1 was announced/released for Nexus One and it got me excited to only found out it pointed me to 2.0.1... Hopefully the OTA comes out any minute... I'm getting anxious
ReplyDeleteMy droid isn't connecting to the net. Says something about may be the network is down. Would this be a good sign? Is the network jammed with notifications?

ReplyDeleteHey people, but if you click on the link on the the right of the virtual DROID phone that says "Android 2.0" it says TOMORROW. Has this always been there? Someone let me know.
ReplyDeleteMaybe that was just wishful thinking and thats just part of their usual advertisement campaign for the DROID. Got a little excited there over nothing I guess.

ReplyDeleteI am glad there is a site out there to feed my daily need for rumor and hope concerning the 2.1 update. I noticed the NEW stamp a week or so ago and also got my hopes up then. With news of Sprint releasing 2.1 by the end of the month, I have to think we are getting close. Where is a trusty Verizon Insider when we need them?
ReplyDeleteRumor has it that Verizon issued a memo to it's employees yesterday to expect the 2.1 update "soon"... I'm guessing that means not anytime in the next few days... ReplyDeleteYeah I went to that site a while ago and it was apparent to me that they hadn't updated it in forever so my guess when I first saw this story was that they just never took down "NEW"
ReplyDeleteIf I was gonna throw my guess into the rumor mill I'd say they probably planned for thursday or friday but something relatively minor went wrong with the update so it got delayed by 3-5 days. I'd guess we'll see it in the first half of next week.
