wednesday poll: case or caseless?

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

we had an off-topic discussion going on at the post we ran yesterday for the city caller id app that had to do with cases for your motorola droid. we've covered plastic cases of all sorts in the past, but definitely got some interesting feedback from a few of the comments on that post which prompted today's poll...

feel free to discuss your protective choices in the comments!

  1. If there was a way to have a real plastic/rubberized case on the phone without impeding the ability to use the keyboard, while still allowing it to fit in the docks, I would use one.

Until then... I hope I beat it up enough that I can just have the insurance replace it when it is time :D

  2. I agree with Mike C. I tried 2 different ones but it impeeds the keyboard way too much.

  3. Zagg (and others) make InvisiSheild-type covers for the BACK of the phone as well. That is, you can get the same "military grade" skin for nearly every surface of the phone. That seems like pretty decent protection. Why isn't there a poll option for that?

  4. I had a screen protector but it fell off and I've been too lazy to add another one.

I purchased a few cases on eBay a while back, but when I got them, none of them fit the droid so it could fit in my car dock. So its naked or no car dock for me. :(

  5. Wish the car doc and multimedia station made room for protective covers so somedays I have a cover if I'm not driving but most days its just the invisishield

  6. Nothing for now, but I will probably be getting the Invisible Shield protector that covers the entire phone. I've seen this at the mall a few times, those things are pretty tough.

  7. If u haven't tried the Seidio slim case u should. It a very slim tight fit case. This Is the case I'm currently using and it still leave room for the keyboard so far I will rate this case 9 out 10.

  8. I had a body glove, dropped it, and the screen still broke. On the new one, I am caseless. My biggest gripe is that most of them ugly up the phone and the two case types I have tried did not fit perfectly.

  9. The seidio case is the best I've used. They even make both car and multimedia docks.

  10. Alphonso: Thats the next case I think I'm going to try actually. Good to hear you are enjoying it.

Ted: That's why I left a space for "other" with a chance to type in your protective option. :)

  11. Kellex: Thanks for the poll! I have had four different cases, and couldn't warm up to any of them. I'm trying "naked" for a while.

  12. Yes the seidio case is awesome. It fits better than any case I've tried. I feels good as well. I'm just waiting for my desktop dock to arrive, and yes it works with the case ON...........

  13. Kellex: you wont go wrong with the seidio case, best case out there for the Droid. As u can see couple of people think the same thing

  14. I have a little argyle phone sock that I made. I didn't like any of the cases I tried, but didn't want to go naked, and it works very well to keep it safe and doubles as a screen cleaner.

  15. bought the phone with the verizon clear case... hated it, if you use your phone with a case your missing the 2nd best part about the phone, the feeling of rubberized metal that is scratch resistant... Had a screen protector for 3 months but it got scratched up and made my phone look awful. heard the screen is glass (won't scratch unless u have a diamond haha) so I've been running my phone without a screen protector, not a single scratch and i'm a college student............. that parties

  16. I'm just using the screen protector right now but I keep hearing how durable the actual screen is. Maybe one day. :)

  17. Not a huge fan of any coverings. Naked is how i roll. I also heard the glass was some amazing gorilla something-or-other and was pretty much scratch resistant. But for full disclosure i have dropped my Droid twice and have 3 tiny little nicks on the corners.

  18. I'm using the Body Glove case. Besides the inability to dock which does not bother me, this is a nice case. I actually like the fact that it makes the phone slightly thicker and helps with the grip.
