google releases "shopper" android app
Friday, February 19, 2010
google just released their "shopper" app to give you another way to shop for DVDs, video games, CDs and books using their cover art. shopper also gives you the ability to scan barcodes, use voice search, or just do a manual search if the cover art option isn't working.
my first impression is sort of the same impression i got from google goggles which wasn't necessarily a good one. maybe if you are a big time shopper and have found some success using barcode scanners in the past then this may be your go to app. let me know what you think!

It's gotten bad reviews on the market. I think I'll pass on this one, maybe later.
ReplyDeleteShopSavvy does a far better job. And I just compared results for the same item (a 100 pack of white diskette sleeves). ShopSavvy found them for $2.95 on the web, and Googles Shopper found cheapest web as $6.95. Not even close? I'll stick to ShopSavvy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for checking that Tom. Google should really work out bugs before dropping all these apps on us. Google Goggles and Shopper seem to be busts.

ReplyDeleteTried out Shopper, could barely get it to recognize anything. I agree with tom, ShopSavvy seems to work much better.
